The Sampson County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program organized the first-ever “Art in the Park” event on April 8th, where visitors to the Sampson County Cooperative Extension grounds off US 421 south of Clinton could view hand-made art pieces.
The volunteer group held an herb cooking class from 10am to noon on the 8th, which was proceeded by the “Art in the Park” event. The volunteers showcased their creative work and offered lavender shortbread cookies and strawberry mint-infused water made at the cooking event. The art was made of plant material as well as yard objects like chairs and grills that were repurposed as planters.
The “Art in the Park” event was also meant to advertise the group’s annual azalea sale, which is ongoing through the month of April. Buyers can find showcased azaleas, geraniums, herbs, and more at the Extension Office at 55 Agriculture Place in Clinton.
The group of 20 puts on seminars and outreach events for all ages, including cooking classes and other educational programs. To support the Master Gardeners, you can buy from the azalea sale any time between 10am and 6pm, Monday through Saturday, until the end of April. Our staff at Nissan of Clinton love supporting local organizations, so we hope you’ll stop by the sale!
