Nissan LEAF Customers in Rome Ride Bikes for Free Charging

Nissan has developed a very interesting way to stress the importance of clean energy creation and use. From now until July 6 of next year, Nissan LEAF customers in Rome will be able to benefit from taking part in the “DinamoBike – enjoy your power” project in order to earn incentives to buy a new Nissan LEAF.

The “DinamoBike – enjoy your power” project encourages citizens of Rome as well as visitors to convert their kinetic energy into energy for other uses by riding stationary bikes. Those who attempt the challenge for at least 10 minutes, then consume energy (such as coffee) at the DInamoBike Café, can purchase a new Nissan LEAF at a discount.

But it’s not just a discount that is incentivizing these “bikers”; those who participate will also earn two years of free energy to recharge the new Nissan LEAF.

An added bonus for participating in the program is a free shuttle (via a Nissan LEAF, of course) to the historic center of Rome.

While we at Nissan of Clinton can’t offer a trip to the Roman city center, we can offer great deals on Nissan vehicles. Stop by today to find the model that is right for you.Nissan LEAF customers in Rome

Nissan Green Technologies: Breakthrough Eco-Friendly Design

Nissan green technologiesNissan is gearing up for the summer with some great new green technologies. These include an advanced lithium-ion battery system and analysis method, something capable of drastically expanding the driving range of electric vehicles. Nissan is redefining the future of mobility.

According to Nissan, the research and development branch recently teamed with the Tohoku University, the National Institute for Materials Science, the Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute, and the Japan Science and Technology Agency in order to develop an atomic analysis methodology to boost the performance of batteries.

“The invention of this new analysis method is essential to further develop the next generation of high-capacity lithium-ion batteries. It will certainly become one of our core technologies. The utilization of this analysis method in our future R&D will surely contribute to extending the cruising range of future zero-emission vehicles,” said Takao Asami, senior VP of Nissan.

While Nissan green technologies might sound a little technical, the good news is that battery-powered vehicles will now have a significantly longer range. The company was basically able to rapidly test a range of materials for new batteries, determining that certain silicon compounds work better than others. In short, models like the LEAF will have better performance and better range in the coming years.

The Ever-Popular LEAF: Award-Winning Nissan Customer Loyalty

Nissan Customer LoyaltyNot only is the new Nissan LEAF breaking sales records, but the new model was also recently named the best Non-Luxury Traditional Compact Car in the IHS Automotive Loyalty Awards. This award was announced during the Detroit Auto Show, highlighting just how popular the new model really is.

According to Nissan, the award is given annually to automakers that can retain the most owners over repeat buying cycles. That means this award is one of the only fact-based awards in the industry, one that isn’t determined by judges. Nissan customer loyalty is so high for several reasons, including incredible quality, affordability, and performance.

“Since entering the market in 2010, the Nissan LEAF has steadily gained supporters throughout the U.S.,” said Toby Perry, director of marketing for Nissan LEAF. “While the majority of original buyers were electric vehicle enthusiasts, we’re now seeing more and more ‘regular’ car buyers fall in love with LEAF.”

The LEAF offers seating for up to five passengers, an EPA-estimated range of 84 miles, and 114 MPGe. Not only that, but owners receive a $7,500 federal tax credit for the new model, which offers benefits of low running costs and less maintenance. What’s not to like about the new model?

Nissan LEAF Sets U.S. Electric Car Sales Record

U.S. Electric Car Sales RecordThere’s no denying that the Nissan LEAF is considered the world’s best-selling electric car—especially since it has set a brand-new U.S. electric car sales record. After selling 3,102 units in December alone, the LEAF sales for 2014 in the U.S. reached a stunning total of 30,200 units, making it a new record for any plug-in electric vehicle in the country.

When the LEAF first entered the American market in December 2010, many people questioned whether it would survive in the SUV-oriented market. After a total of 72,322 LEAFS sold in the States, we think it’s safe to say that the tiny plug-in hasn’t just survived—it’s thrived. The LEAF has also made a lasting impression around the world, with over 200,000 batter-electric vehicles being delivered globally in dozens of countries.

Through a combination of terrific range and great handling, the LEAF has made a lasting impression on the American market that is sure to last for a long time. Why not stop in to Nissan of Clinton to see what all the LEAF buzz is about?

Nissan LEAF Joins United Kingdom’s Knowsley Safari Workforce

Nissan LEAFSince it first came to market, the Nissan LEAF has been transforming the way people and businesses travel. Its recent addition to the United Kingdom’s Knowsley Safari fleet has expanded its job description to include “Transporter of the Creepy Crawlies.”

The Safari’s Learning and Discovery Team have employed the Nissan LEAF to assist in its regional tour to primary schools in the Liverpool, England area. The LEAF, supplied by a local Nissan dealer, not only carries two educators, but it also carts snakes, spiders, and other creatures used to teach the children conservation and sustainability principles.

At Knowsley Safari, environmental responsibility plays an important role in everyday operations.

“In many ways the LEAF is the perfect car for us,” said Richard Smith, Knowsley Safari head of visitor services. “It’s fantastic. Because we’ve been able to couple our charger to our solar panels, there are effectively no running costs and that’s a real advantage. We also operate in accordance with a strict sustainability plan, and in that regard the LEAF is a winner too. It fits very neatly with the overall message the Learning and Discovery Team are delivering at schools across the region.”

Nissan Gets Closer to Reduced Carbon Footprint Goal

Nissan LeafAs a corporate objective for Nissan, sustaining mobility is key. Nissan is the world’s largest manufacturer of zero emission all-electric cars. In order to keep its lead in electric passenger vehicles, Nissan is debuting the e-NV200, which is an all electric van. They also have had 120,000 sales of their Nissan Leaf. The company not only wants to reduce emissions from cars, but their global corporate activities as well, and they have been successful. C02 emissions have been reduced by 15.4 percent since the program has been in effect and this past year has had increased vehicle production by 5.1 percent.

Nissan’s goal is to reduce emissions by 20 percent by 2016 and they are getting closer each year. In order to achieve this goal, Nissan practices widespread power conservation. Solar power is being used for energy procurement as well. New energy suppliers and retailers who generate power from sustainable sources were able to enter the market and produce clean energy. This clean energy will in turn be used to charge Nissan Leaf vehicles and charging with clean energy will help get the company closer to zero-emission mobility and a lower carbon footprint. A carbon footprint is “the total sets of greenhouse gas emissions caused by an organization, event, product, or person.” Nissan has a few other activities in progress besides minimizing their corporate carbon footprint these activities include: zero-emission vehicle penetration, fuel-efficient vehicle expansion, and new natural resource use minimization.

By reducing our carbon footprint, we are making the world a better place to live. We can’t wait to see Nissan surpass their goal!

Nissan’s Scent of the Future Suggests a World with Zero Emissions

FlowerEveryone knows the famous “New Car Smell” that scientists try so hard to recreate and capitalize on. It’s a scent that is associated with the success of buying a new car and knowing that everything is in perfect working order. Something that’s a bit harder to nail down is the smell that goes along with EVs like the Nissan Leaf. That’s why Nissan and Master Perfumer and Aroma Academy Scientist Dr. George Dodd have teamed up to create what they are calling the Scent of the Future.

Designed to bring up positive thoughts about well-being; clean, fresh, organic landscapes; and nostalgic feelings, this “Scent of the Future” is Nissan and Dodd’s take on what a world of zero emissions could smell like. Air fresheners, embedded with the scent, are being sent out to Nissan Leaf drivers as a special Christmas thank you for playing a part in reducing emissions.

Check out the video below for a more detailed description about the scent and how it was made.

Used Nissan LEAF Will Have Its Own Certified Pre-Owned Program

2013 Nissan Leaf IIHS "Top Safety Pick"Nissan dealerships around the country will soon have one more great deal to offer customers. Just recently, Nissan has realized the growing supply of used Nissan LEAF EVs in the market as the first examples sold during the 2011 model year quickly approach 3 years old. With the rising demand for electric cars around the nation, it is only natural for Nissan to put together a comprehensive certified pre-owned vehicle program for these used cars.

The original 8-year/100,000-mile* battery warranty will still cover any defects in the battery and Nissan has decided to include a few extra warranties for added buyer confidence.  Nissan will also modify the EV system and powertrain warranty to cover these components for a 7-year/100,000-mile* term and a 5-year/60,000-mile* warranty will be added that covers battery capacity that falls below 9-bars out of 12 as read by the vehicles battery capacity gauge.

Also making this a great deal are a number of qualifications that ensure the LEAF is in top condition and will bring years of happy driving to its new owner. These include:

  • A clear CARFAX Vehicle History Report with a 90-day buyback guarantee included
  • Free 3-month subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio
  • A comprehensive vehicle quality inspection including a 167-point test
  • Car rental reimbursement
  • Trip interruption coverage
  • 24-hour emergency roadside assistance

For more information, ask about the program here at Nissan of Clinton, your local Nissan dealership and service center.
