Nissan Named 2016 Energy Star Partner of the Year

2016 energy star partnerReducing energy consumption and costs is a major part of modern life. Nissan knows this, which is why it has been working hard for years to cut its energy use. For the fifth year in a row now, Nissan has been recognized as a 2016 Energy Star Partner of the Year.

“Nissan is honored to once again be recognized as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the year,” said Rebecca Vest, vice president, Corporate Development and Social Responsibility, in a statement. “We continue to make improvements to our operations that reduce our environmental footprint as we manufacture the highest quality vehicles sold in North America.”

Over the years, Nissan has made continuous efforts to reduce its energy use and has it energy consumption by 30% by using more efficient LED lighting, improving industrial motor efficiency, repairing compressed air leaks, and using a more efficient environmentally-friendly painting process.

Nissan made these and other improvements at its Smyrna, Tennessee Assembly Plant along with its plant in Canton, Mississippi.

Here at Nissan of Clinton, we are proud to be part of a company that works hard to reduce its environmental impact.

Best Summer Cars from Nissan

Best summer carsNissan may be best known for its SUVs, but it has an impressive lineup of sports cars and convertibles that are perfect for summertime. Nissan of Clinton’s home in North Carolina is blistering in summer, so we understand the need for great summer cars.

First is the aptly named 370Z Roadster, which is both a sleek sports car and a convertible, the only car combining the best of both worlds. With 332 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, the Roadster is the perfect car for racing down the freeway with the wind in your face.

Nissan’s other two sports cars, the 370Z Coupe and the GT-R, are still great summer cars, despite their lack of convertible top. Nothing beats a cool, superfast car, and Nissan’s sports line definitely qualifies.

Finally, we have, the Murano Crosscabriolet. Nissan’s only four-door convertible, the Crosscabriolet is kind of the family-friendly version of the Roadster. It doesn’t pack the horsepower of the sports cars, of course, but that’s all the better when you’ve got a car seat or an impressionable 15-year-old in the backseat.

The best part: these cars come with advanced braking systems and high-quality tires, so they transition well into the colder months.

Testing the Waters: The New Concept 370Z NISMO Roadster

Concept 370Z NISMO RoadsterCurious Nissan fans that have ever wondered if NISMO – Nissan’s performance line – would ever take the 370Z Roadster and pump it up with agility and performance now have their answer. It’s the new concept 370Z Nismo Roadster recently unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show.

The concept roadster, with its white paint, black trim and trademark red accents, excites with its promise of speed and top-down fun. The electric retractable cloth top fully stows into the trunk, revealing the leather and ultra-suede two-tone Recaro seats, leather steering wheel, and ubiquitous red accent-stitching around the interior.

The 370Z concept has a 7-speed automatic transmission powered up by the 3.7-liter 350hp engine sending 276 pound-feet of torque to the rear tires. This drivetrain is enhanced by the NISMO-tuned struts, stabilizers, springs, and suspension for a tighter handling ride.

There is a possibility this exciting sports car makes its way into production, but that depends on the reception from fans and consumers following its release. Stay tuned to Nissan of Clinton for NISMO performance line updates.

Nissan’s Le Mans Entry Makes an Appearance at the Super Bowl

Nissan’s Super Bowl ad titled “With Dad” showed the heartfelt relationship between a son and his racing driver dad.

But the ad was more than just a showcase for that relationship and for Nissan’s ordinary production vehicles: at Nissan of Clinton, we couldn’t help but notice that the automaker also used the opportunity to reveal the GT-R LM NISMO, its brand new Le Mans racer.

We already knew that Nissan was returning to the prestigious race, but it’s hard not to get excited about Nissan’s Le Mans entry even with that foreknowledge. This will mark the first time the automaker returns to the sport’s highest tier in 16 years. It’ll also bolster Japan’s attempts to take top honors at Le Mans for the first time since 1991.

That’s not to say the GT-R LM NISMO is a Japanese-only production. The racer was created by a team of carefully-selected experts in Japan, the United States, and Europe, which has brought about some interesting ideas. For example, the GT-R’s V6 3.0-liter twin-turbo gas engine will sit in the front of the front-wheel-drive car, unlike other LM P1 cars.

For more on the GT-R LM NISMO, tune in to the Chicago Auto Show next week!

Adam Levine Declares Red Thumb Day to Raise Awareness About Distracted Driving

During the December 15th episode of NBC’s The Voice, singing coach and total heartthrob Adam Levine declared Red Thumb Day in order to remind drivers of the importance of putting down their phones while driving.

“The statistics are alarming. According to the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, a quarter of teens respond to a text message once or more every time they drive. Twenty percent of teens and 10 percent of parents admit that they have extended, multi-message text conversations while driving,” said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, Marketing, Nissan North America, Inc. “Together with Adam Levine, Nissan encourages drivers to put the phone down and get where they are going safely. A ‘Red Thumb Reminder’ may seem insignificant. However, every time you see it, it reminds you to not text and drive.”

The Maroon 5 frontman wore a red thumb band as a visual reminder to be diligent when driving. Nissan then made the thumb bands available at its dealerships around the country, including Nissan of Clinton.

While Red Thumb Day may have come and gone, it’s especially important to remember not to text and drive during the holidays when so many other people are traveling home.

To you and all of yours, we at Nissan of Clinton hope you have a safe and happy holiday!

Nissan CUV Concept Set for Reveal at Sao Paulo Motor Show

Nissan CUV ConceptBrazil’s Sao Paulo Motor Show seems to be the place for Nissan to show off their crossover concepts. In 2012, the Japanese carmaker unveiled the ‘Extrem’ crossover utility vehicle concept, which seemed to foreshadow the introduction of the Nissan Juke. Now, Nissan has announced yet another crossover concept for the Brazilian auto show and it looks like it could be the carmaker’s next big entry into the CUV segment.

The new Nissan CUV concept is set to debut on October 28 at the auto show and appears to be positioned size-wise in between the funky Juke and slightly larger Rogue. While all we have to go on is a teaser image, this new concept car looks as if it will have an entirely different silhouette from either of these cars, though, with harsher angles on the front end rather than the rounded lines of the Juke and Rogue.

If this new crossover concept makes it to production, which many experts think it will, it will join Nissan’s rather large lineup of crossovers in a couple of years. Don’t think you can wait that long for a Nissan CUV? Make sure you stop in to Nissan of Clinton today!

Nissan Is Still One of the Best Global Brands

Best global brandsWhen it comes to the most valuable brands around the world, Nissan is one of the best. The automaker was once again named to Interbrand’s list of the 100 Best Global Brands.

Last year, Nissan was listed at number 65. This year, the brand’s value increased by 23 percent, moving Nissan up to number 56 on the list and making it one of the brands with the greatest increase in value.

“Brand power is a key indicator of the health of the Nissan business and a major driver of the company’s growth,” said Roel de Vries, corporate vice president and global head of Marketing and Brand Strategy for Nissan. “We are pleased to see a 23 percent increase in brand value from last year – nearly doubling Nissan’s brand value since its inaugural appearance on the list in 2011 – and recognition as a ‘top’ riser in the study.”

Thanks to the LEAF, Nissan was also named one of the world’s greenest brands according to a separate study conducted by Interbrand earlier this year.

Nissan was named a top brand for its impressive vehicle lineup, its leadership in electric vehicle technology, and the company’s strong financial performance.
