KBB Names Nissan Versa Note to “10 Best Back-to-School Cars of 2017” List

It’s hard to believe, but summer is drawing to a close, and it’s time to send our children back to school. If you have a teen driver in high school or a college-aged commuter, you can rest easy shipping them off to class in the Nissan Versa Note, which was just named to Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com’s “10 Best Back-to-School Cars of 2017” list.

This is not the first time that the Versa Note has earned this honor. In fact, the 2017 list marks the third consecutive year that Nissan’s compact hatchback has earned this distinction. To earn a spot on KBB.com’s list, a vehicle must be below $20,000, must bestylish, and—above all else—must be safe.

10 Best Back-to-School Cars of 2017 - 2017 Nissan Versa Note“Versa Note, as the KBB.com editors write, is a car that parents and students can agree on,” remarked Scott Shirley, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations, Nissan North America, Inc. “Versa Note continues to offer a great combination of available safety and security features, combined with the sporty style and roomy, versatile interior that is perfect for the demands of life on campus and off.”

World’s Strongest Man Pulls 12 Nissan Versa Notes, Sets a New Guinness World Record

Setting records and pushing boundaries is what Nissan is all about. After all, many of the great cars from the automaker have been built by pushing farther than ever before. That’s why Nissan is proud to have helped Zydrunas Savickas in setting a new world record for “Most Cars Pulled by One Man”. Recently to close out Lithuania’s Car of the Year test camp Savickas made his attempt at the record, pulling 12 Nissan Versa Notes under only his own power.

As a five-time World Strongest Man championship winner and one of the most recognized strongmen of all time, Zydrunas Savickas was allowed only one attempt at pulling all twelve Nissan Versa Notes over a distance of five meters using only a special pulling harness, a rope arrangement, and his sheer strength. Incredibly, Savickas accomplished his goal in front of a large crowd, making the distance in only 32.9 seconds!

2014 Nissan Versa NoteMuch like this incredible strongman, the Nissan Versa Note is one of the best in its class, offering an abundance of standard tech and best-in-class features. Divide-N-Hide adjustable cargo storage, the available Around View Monitor, Heated Seats, Active Grille Shutters, and more really set the Versa Note apart from the competition. Be sure to check out one of these great little hatchbacks here at Nissan of Clinton today. Sadly, we won’t let you try to pull 13 of them, what with lawsuits and all…

2014 Versa Note Brings Tech and Features to Subcompact Class

2014 Nissan Versa NoteThe 2014 Versa Note from Nissan not only brings great new styling to the subcompact world but also introduces available technology and features that are class exclusive and class-leading fuel efficiency.

Optional features available in the 2014 Versa Note include an Around View monitor that is class exclusive in the subcompact economy car segment and even for a few class levels above. It is unheard of for technology like this to be available in a car that starts under $14,000. This system allows drivers to see their immediate surroundings (forward, sides, and rear) on a single display and makes parking in tight spaces simple. The rear-view camera can also project steering angle to show where you are steering the car.

Another awesome feature is the Divide & Hide adjustable floor which allows for either a sunken trunk space with extra cargo volume or a raised “false-floor” that has a hidden storage compartment beneath. With up to 40 MPG, the Versa Note has class-leading fuel efficiency as well, making it a natural choice for drivers who want a low cost of ownership.

Nissan Designers Explain Their Work with Clay Models

Nissan Versa Note Clay Model DesignFor the vehicle design team at Nissan, clay models are an important tool that can help artists and manufacturers to visualize a finished product. The process of transferring design sketches into a real, working production vehicle can take months and even years and moving from drawings and renderings into a physical model is a huge step.

Nissan Versa Note Clay Model RearFor clay sculptors like Hiroshi Kato and Naoki Maekawa who worked on the new Nissan Versa Note, creating a model that represents the original design and fits with current architecture is a multi-step process. First, they will create a number of ¼ scale clay models that show different interpretations and design options. Once the team settles on one design they move into a full-size clay model that will feature every design cue and style line on the production vehicle.

It is an interesting process to watch and here at Nissan of Clinton we highly recommend you check out the video below. It’s always good to understand the amount of work that goes into the design of modern vehicles.
