Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept

Nissan is all about innovation, and they prove that with the new Nissan Vmotion 2.0 concept. This all-new styling concept signals the future of our vehicles.

Nissan Vmotion 2.0

The Vmotion 2.0 concept debuted officially at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. With this concept comes a preview of how future Nissan sedans will look. The concept vehicle is sharp and futuristic, exactly what you picture when you imagine vehicles of the future.

Marketed as a “new concept for tomorrow’s busy professionals,” the Vmotion 2.0 car is named for its signature front design, in the shape of “V” to increase aerodynamics. An extended wheelbase offers plenty of room on the inside and wrap-around rear glass opens up sightlines and makes for a gorgeous see-through roof.

This car not only shows the future through its exterior, but also through its engineering. The Vmotion 2.0 shows the future of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility program. With its physical efficiency comes zero emissions.

“Technology is evolving. So is design. At Nissan we see design as the ultimate expression of how customer see themselves, but also an expression of the vision and values of our brand, “ said Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice Presiden and Chief Creative Officer, Nissan.

So who knows? You may be behind this futuristic wheel one day.

Nissan Promises to Expand Electric Vehicle Quick Charging Stations Nationwide

Electric Vehicle Quick Charging StationsNissan has kicked it into high gear in their efforts to make electric vehicle quick charging stations more widely accessible. The automaker has promised a total of 1,700 CHAdeMO DC quick charging stations by April of next year, up from the 800 or so currently up and running.

Today, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco are the leading markets for the Nissan LEAF, thanks to the wide availability of quick-charging ports in the area. In an effort to better support those markets and encourage the expansion of quick charging stations nationwide, Nissan plans to step up its investment in the technology over the next year.

As of the beginning of 2015, Nissan has helped install over 800 DC quick chargers, and has plans to increase that number by 300 to 1,100 by April of this year. In the following 12 months (between April 2015 and April 2016), Nissan says it will help to invest in at least 600 more chargers, bringing the total to 1,700 or more.

“Access to quick chargers that can provide about 80 percent charge to a Nissan LEAF battery in less than 30 minutes has proved to increase our owner satisfaction and get more buyers to consider the benefits of an all-electric car,” said Brendan Jones, Nissan’s director of Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure Deployment. “Nissan continues to invest heavily with our charging partners to ensure that LEAF owners have easy access to convenient public charging as they seek to maximize the benefits of their cars.”

According to transporteveloved.com, locations for the new chargers are not yet known, but we’d expect that many will find their way to high-demand areas, and we hope to see others expand into less saturated markets.

Here at Nissan of Clinton, we are hopeful that wide access to EV charging stations will help encourage new car buyers to consider the LEAF for themselves. Stop by to learn more!

Nissan LEAF Technology Powers Vehicle-to-Grid Project

Nissan LEAF technologyHere at Nissan of Clinton we’ve been surprised with the popularity of the LEAF, one of the best-selling all-electric vehicles in the world. With so many on the road, it makes sense for Nissan to look for ways to modify the vehicle-to-grid interaction.

Because the LEAF utilizes advanced technology which can actually generate electricity, researchers in LA are looking to generate revenue by hooking up to the LA Air Force Base. The project will utilize the 13 LEAFS on the base to ultimately lower the cost of ownership. Nissan LEAF technology is only getting better and better.

“As the global leader in electric vehicle sales, Nissan is researching ways to integrate the all-electric LEAF into homes, buildings and power grids to unlock new value that could provide future benefits to customers, businesses and utility companies alike,” said Toby Perry, director of Marketing for Nissan LEAF.

According to Nissan, the company is looking for ways to not only lower recharge time, but also to hook-up to homes and businesses to act as backup generators. In case of an emergency, LEAF engineers argue the all-electric model could eliminate the need for separate generators.

Nissan Concept 2020 Debuts in Real Life before Virtual Availability

Through the Nissan GT Academy program, Nissan is building its reputation for turning avid gamers into real-life racing pros. The tradition continues as the automaker revealed the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a concept that will be driven by thousands of gamers in the popular Gran Turismo 6.

Nissan’s Concept 2020 was built to capture the performance prowess found its virtual counterpart.

“We have 149 cars in the PlayStation Game,” said Taisuke Nakamura director of the Nissan Design Europe team that worked on the project. “People are quite enthusiastic to race a car in a virtual environment. It’s a new styling challenge without any constraints, boundaries, so it was a purely design challenge from our side to see how much we can go further to achieve an attractive design.”

Speaking of Nissan GT Academy, the concept car will become an integral part of the program.

Since we at Nissan of Clinton didn’t make it to England for the Goodwood Festival, we will definitely be checking out this hot racer in Gran Turismo 6.

Nissan ZEOD RC Keeps Crash Test Dummy Safe Despite Mafia’s Best Efforts

Mafia DonThis is the story of Frankie, a decent crash-test dummy who got caught up with the wrong crowd.

Frankie was driven, ambitious, and eager to work his way up in the world but his poor mother just didn’t have the money for a proper education. Working his job at Lazzaro’s Dry Cleaning as a mannequin he was, of course, always running into the boys as they picked up their freshly pressed suits. That, they say, is how he eventually got in good with The Don.

It wasn’t long before he started making deliveries, applying pressure to shmucks that was late on their payments, the usual fare…

But he got greedy.

He started taking a few bucks off the top here and there. At first it was nothing bad, just enough to put some food on the table for his brothers and his sisters. Soon though he was in over his head. The day The Don discovered these transgressions was the day Frankie became best friends with a brick wall. You see, brakes are finicky sometimes and you never know when they’re going to… stop working.

If only he would have listened, he might still be around and his young siblings might not be working as CPR dummies every day after school.

Reip tests ZEOD RC at Snetterton

In all seriousness though, the Nissan ZEOD RC is a new experimental racecar that uses hybrid electric power, allowing it to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans at least partially with zero-emissions propulsion. The super dramatic video above is not actually evidence of a Mafia hit on an unsuspecting crash-test dummy; it’s a filmed test of how the race car stands up to a head on collision. Judging by the smooth compression of the carbon-fiber nosecone and the overall in-tactness of “Frankie’s” head, we’d say this test has been a success.

Here at Nissan of Clinton we can’t wait to see a lot of this hybrid and carbon-fiber technology make it into production vehicles. Be sure to check back regularly for more information and share any stories you can make up about Frankie in the comments below.

Nissan Easy Fill Tire Alert Makes Owning a Car Easier

Easy Fill Tire AlertWith all of high-tech features and systems that come on cars these days, it’s amazing to see how outdated some systems have become. Take, for instance, the normal method of filling a car’s tires to the correct PSI. If you own a car without a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), you just have to check occasionally with a gauge to see how the air pressure is doing. Nissan vehicles come with TPMS to make it easier to realize when your tires are over or under inflated. Now, Nissan is introducing Easy Fill Tire Alert on vehicles like the upcoming 2014 Nissan Versa Note. This system alerts the drive when the proper PSI is achieved with a combination of flashing lights and horn alrets. Check out the details below.

Nissan Promotes Tire Inflation Technology – How it Works

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 7, 2013) – Nissan highlights the importance of vehicle tire care during summer driving season by promoting Nissan’s “Easy Fill Tire Alert” system for National Tire Safety Week. Available on five Nissan vehicles, including the all-new 2014 Versa Note, Nissan highlights the importance of tire pressure monitoring systems, like its “Easy Fill Tire Alert” system. This signature innovation takes the guesswork out of regulating tire pressure, and eliminates the need for handheld tire pressure gauges. This system is only found on Nissan and Infiniti products.

Nissan Helps You Drive Safe with Smart Auto Headlights

2013 Nissan Altima HeadlightIt can be tough to remember every single rule and regulation of the road at times. There are some very specific guidelines that drivers are technically supposed to follow and sometimes they can slip your mind, especially during challenging situations and inclement weather. For instance, did you know that in North Carolina drivers are required to use headlights during times between sunset and sunrise, when visibility is less than 400 feet, or when windshield wipers are in use?

Rules about headlight use vary by state as well so if you frequently drive into other states you would have to remember a whole new set of laws. Nissan has made this confusing set of regulations a bit easier for drivers by introducing Smart Auto Headlights on vehicles like the Nissan Altima, Nissan Pathfinder, and Nissan Sentra. This system will automatically turn on headlights when low lighting is detected or when the windshield wipers are in use! Check out the infographic below for more state laws and be sure to stop by Nissan of Clinton to check out this system and others like Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert on our new vehicles.

Nissan Earns Energy Star Sustained Excellence Award

Over the years, Nissan has proven itself to be a very environmentally friendly company. The auto-manufacturer helps preserve the environment in so many ways other than just producing fuel-efficient vehicles. For its continued efforts to make the world a little bit cleaner, the EPA has honored Nissan with 3 new awards including the prestigious 2013 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award.

Since 2006 (when Nissan partnered with ENERGY STAR) Nissan has reduced its energy consumption for the production of new vehicles by more than 800 Billion BTUs. To put that in perspective, the energy saved is more than enough to power a Nissan LEAF EV for 750 Million miles. Now that’s a road trip!

Many of Nissan’s production plants feature energy efficient methods to save money and electricity. The Powertrain plant in Decherd, TN just won the ENERGY STAR Challenge.  Through the use of more efficient machinery and by reducing compressed air leaks, this plant reduced energy consumption for the assembly of engines by 7% in 12 months. Similarly, the Smyrna, TN and Canton, MS plants received ENERGY STAR Certification for the 7th year in a row. Finally, Nissan is set to open a new paint plant in Smyrna, TN which is above the 75th percentile in energy performance.

Check out the infographic below to see how you can save energy and be sure to stop by Nissan of Clinton to check out our fuel efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles!

Nissan Applies Self Healing Paint To iPod Cases

Often times, technology seems to find its way from one industry over to another industry over time. And usually when this happens it is something that seems natural. But Nissan has really come up with a doozy this time! The automobile company has decided to apply some of its most cutting edge technology to… iPod cases!

That’s right; the car company is tossing around the idea of applying its amazing self-healing paint to iPod and iPhone cases. This paint is available on several Nissan vehicles like the 370Z, Murano, and X-Trail along with Infiniti cars. The amazing stuff, known as Smart Shield paint is able to “heal” over small surface scratches in as little as a few hours while larger blemishes can take up to a week or two to fully heal. Now I can only assume that Nissan has turned to some form of dark magic to make this possible, but it is downright amazing! And now it can be applied to the things we drop and scratch up the most… our phones and iPods! Good move Nissan… Good move!

Nissan Design Team Takes a Field Trip to Hang Out with the Blue Angels

Nissan isn’t messing around when it comes to research and development for its sports cars! When most companies try to improve a car, they just look at their competition’s products and try to copy what they see. If they are trying really hard, they may go to the Formula 1 circuit in search of some technology or aerodynamic wizardry. But when Nissan wants to improve its already impressive selection of sports cars like the Maxima, 370Z, and GT-R, they look elsewhere for inspiration!

Nissan wanted to improve the integration of instrumentation in the dash for their future vehicles. So where did they go? A team of designers from Nissan went to Pensacola, FL to talk with some of the best pilots in the world about interacting with gauges, controls, and technology in high stress situations. I don’t know about you, but I would be willing to take a few pointers from the Blue Angels if they were willing to help out.

I wouldn’t expect to see an altimeter or a joystick control in the next GT-R, but something like a projected Heads-Up-Display and repositioned gauges and controls might be in the works! Check out the video below for a look at these lucky designers’ trips to talk with the Blue Angels pilots. And if you just need to get into a sporty car, check out our selection of sports cars in our inventory here at Nissan of Clinton!
