KBB Names Nissan Versa Note to “10 Best Back-to-School Cars of 2017” List

It’s hard to believe, but summer is drawing to a close, and it’s time to send our children back to school. If you have a teen driver in high school or a college-aged commuter, you can rest easy shipping them off to class in the Nissan Versa Note, which was just named to Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com’s “10 Best Back-to-School Cars of 2017” list.

This is not the first time that the Versa Note has earned this honor. In fact, the 2017 list marks the third consecutive year that Nissan’s compact hatchback has earned this distinction. To earn a spot on KBB.com’s list, a vehicle must be below $20,000, must bestylish, and—above all else—must be safe.

10 Best Back-to-School Cars of 2017 - 2017 Nissan Versa Note“Versa Note, as the KBB.com editors write, is a car that parents and students can agree on,” remarked Scott Shirley, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations, Nissan North America, Inc. “Versa Note continues to offer a great combination of available safety and security features, combined with the sporty style and roomy, versatile interior that is perfect for the demands of life on campus and off.”

The 2017 Nissan Versa Note boasts a new front end and a more luxurious interior. It’s also available in a new color: Deep Blue Pearl. Check out the back-to-school Versa Note at Nissan of Clinton today.

Nissan LEAF Customers in Rome Ride Bikes for Free Charging

Nissan has developed a very interesting way to stress the importance of clean energy creation and use. From now until July 6 of next year, Nissan LEAF customers in Rome will be able to benefit from taking part in the “DinamoBike – enjoy your power” project in order to earn incentives to buy a new Nissan LEAF.

The “DinamoBike – enjoy your power” project encourages citizens of Rome as well as visitors to convert their kinetic energy into energy for other uses by riding stationary bikes. Those who attempt the challenge for at least 10 minutes, then consume energy (such as coffee) at the DInamoBike Café, can purchase a new Nissan LEAF at a discount.

But it’s not just a discount that is incentivizing these “bikers”; those who participate will also earn two years of free energy to recharge the new Nissan LEAF.

An added bonus for participating in the program is a free shuttle (via a Nissan LEAF, of course) to the historic center of Rome.

While we at Nissan of Clinton can’t offer a trip to the Roman city center, we can offer great deals on Nissan vehicles. Stop by today to find the model that is right for you.Nissan LEAF customers in Rome

Essential Back-to-School Driving Safety Tips

Though it may be hard to believe, summer is almost over, which means it’s time for another school year to begin. Even if you don’t have a child in school, you’ll be sharing the road with parents and bus drivers who are responsible for getting children to and from school safely. Here are some essential back-to-school driving tips to ensure that happens, courtesy of Nissan of Clinton.

  • Be alert. We tend to be our sleepiest first thing in the morning, when millions of American students are commuting to school. Make sure you’ve given yourself enough time (or coffee) to wake up before getting behind the wheel.
  • Slow down. Drive the speed limit always, but especially during school commute times and especially in residential areas and in school zones, where children will be more likely to be walking along the streets.
  • Watch out for bicycles. Many children ride their bikes to school. Keep alert for bicycles, which can be more difficult to see without keen eyes.back-to-school driving safety tips
  • Reverse with care. Always check your rearview mirror and backup camera before reversing, but still take the care to physically look behind you. When backing up, especially into a residential street, do so slowly.
  • Follow all school bus laws. Abide by all school bus laws, stopping when indicated. Never pass a stopped school bus and exercise extreme caution when driving near them.

How to Beat the Summer Heat

When it starts to get hot outside, it starts to get hot in your car, too! Here are some ways to beat the summer heat and cool down your car.

Air Ventilation

Letting a little air into your car might help keep it cool when it’s parked. If you have a sun roof, open it a bit or leave your windows cracked. Just be careful of the rain!

Beat the Summer HeatSun Shades

Use sun shades on your windshield to stop sun from heating up your car. Sun shades are especially helpful when you can’t find shade on your own.

Find Shade

When you can find shade, use it! And if you can’t find enough shade to cover your entire vehicle, make sure you at least cover your driver’s seat with the shade so the heated-up steering wheel won’t burn your hands.

Use Remote Start

Many cars (including Nissans!) have remote start key fobs with A/C. Use it to your advantage by starting your car and A/C before you get in so it’ll already be cooled down by the time you get to it.

If you’re looking for more tips on how to keep your car cool, Nissan of Clinton is always here to help!

Road Trip Games for the Family

Keeping occupied on a long trip can be difficult, especially since there’s not many things to do in the car. Fortunately for drivers, kids can be easily distracted with a fun family game. Kids both young and old enjoy some fun road trip games, and you may end up enjoying yourself as well. Here are a few fun road trip games for the family as suggested by us here at Nissan of Clinton!

The Alphabet Game

This game involves two players, each choosing a side of the vehicle. Each player then tries to complete the alphabet in order from A to Z using only the letters that appear on signs or license plates on their respective sides. The first player to complete the entire alphabet (without skipping letters) wins!

Telephone

The Telephone game requires at least three people to play properly. The first person whispers a story to the second person, who then whispers it to the third person, and so on. The last person repeats the story for the entire car to hear. It’s more than likely parts of the story were changed or lost, making it a great game for some laughs.

The Theme Song Game

Playing this game is as easy as humming the tune to a TV show. Other passengers then try to guess the show. The first person to guess correctly gets to hum the next theme song, and so on.

So get ready for your summer vacation and when you’re packing your bags don’t forget about these fun games! They’ll make the time go by quicker and everyone will have fun!

Best Nissans for Recent Grads: Altima, Rogue, Sentra

The Altima is a sporty sedan that has the perfect combination of athletic appeal and quality design. Recent grads have a lot on their mind, including student loans, job applications, and more.
