As a part of Nissan’s 30th year of manufacturing vehicles at the Smyrna, TN plant, the company will begin production of the Nissan Rogue here in the United States. Less than an hour and a half away from the Nissan of Clinton dealership, the Smyrna plant has had a huge role in Nissan’s N. American presence for the past three decades. With the introduction of the Nissan Rogue to this plant, over 900 new jobs will be added to the local market.
“Our investment creates hundreds of new jobs and underscores Nissan’s longtime commitment to our employees and expanding operations around the country,” said Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Bill Krueger. “Our dedicated workforce in the United States continues to build high-quality vehicles, such as the Altima, Pathfinder and LEAF, which are driving growth with sales up a combined 70 percent in May.”
In addition to vehicle manufacturing, the Smyrna plant has also been expanded recently to include the country’s largest lithium-ion battery plant for electric vehicles in addition to an all-new paint plant that has changed the standards for energy efficiency.
