With the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2013 race finished last weekend, we can now look forward to next year and the racing debut of Nissan’s latest experimental vehicle, the ZEOD RD race car that will compete under Garage 56 in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race next year. The ZEOD RC (Zero Emissions On Demand Racing Car) is claiming to be the fastest electric race car ever built, capable of running on either gasoline or pure electric power.
Sources claim that the ZEOD RC will be able to complete one lap at Le Mans on pure electric power for every six laps completed under gasoline power. The batteries will be recharged during the race through the use of regenerative braking and other technology. Watch the video below for more information about this race car that uses battery technology derived from the Nissan LEAF electric car.
